Hammarsdale is a town situated in the eThekwini municipality, some on the N3 Freight Corridor between Pieterrmaritzburg and Durban. A large part of South Africa's textile industry was located in Hammarsdale some years back but the area is quickly becoming a popular logistics node, as it is ideally located on the primary western corridor, the centre of gravity of most of South Africa's regional and national distribution network. eThekwini has pegged Hammarsdale/Cato-Ridge as one of the three catalytic development Node's for KZN, along with the south and north coast. This classification has provided Hammarsdale with significant infrastructure investment from the eThekwini, SOE's and other government entities into roads, waste water, power, public transport etc, all of which have a direct benefit to Hammarsdale.
